Camille Dufour

Critical materials deals with the depletion of non-renewable resources and in particular metals. Preserved for millions of years, these materials are now threatened by recent technological developments. The engravings printed until the ink runs out organise a laboratory that aims to question our modes of consumption. Using the intaglio press, Camille Dufour materializes this gradual disappearance through the exhaustion of the ink in her engravings. Four metals overabundant in the contemporary technological environment, four metal matrices printed until the ink runs out. Inks whose pigments are derived from these metals. The motifs subjected to this process of printing and progressive erasure represent four metals: cobalt, copper, neodymium and antimony.
